What is a mobile game subscription?
A mobile game subscription is a monetization feature where players pay a fee to access extra game features for a set period (e.g. day, week, month).
In most cases, subscriptions appear alongside other monetization features in a hybrid monetization model.
Types of mobile game subscription
- “Remove ads” subscriptions. Subscription feature that allows players to remove intrusive ads from ad-based games (e.g. hyper-casual and hybrid-casual).
- Battle pass subscriptions. Time-limited subscription feature where players complete challenges to earn extra rewards.
- VIP subscriptions. A subscription model that provides players with a set of exclusive benefits (e.g. daily rewards, ad removal, extra characters)
- Subscription-based games. Mobile games that require players to make regular payments to access a premium version of the game.
