What is mobile segmentation?

Mobile segmentation or app user segmentation is the practice of separating users into groups based on mutual characteristics. For example, by age, location, gender, interests, or spending habits. 

By segmenting users into groups, app developers can create customized in-app experiences and monetization strategies. For example, they can create different in-app purchase offers for low and high-value users. Another common example is serving fewer ads to buyers, and more to non-buyers.

As a result of this strategy, developers should see higher user engagement, retention rates, and revenue.
